Legendary folk singer Bob Dylan's new album dubbed "Together Through Life" has officially been released. If you're a die hard Dylan fan, I suggest you stop torturing yourself and get your very own copy of the album as it's the first in a while. I can't promise it'll be great as the album just came out today and I can't give you my own expertise opinion because I still haven't gotten the chance to hear any of the tracks ;-) sigh! What I can give you is a short summary of Rolling Stone magazine's very own exclusive preview, so here it is- The Album mainly focuses on struggling-love songs. Dylan somehow decided to put an accordion on every track and the songs are described by critics as having “the live-in-the-studio feel of Dylan’s last two studio records, 2001’s "Love and Theft" and 2006’s "Modern Times". If you want to get a LEGAL auditory preview of his new stuff, here's alink. Still, I feel handicapped not having any real access to his new songs, and not being able to discuss them. I guess I'll just have to settle like a rolling stone for now :-(
Green's Day's Record Label "Reprise" will release Green Day’s long-awaited eighth studio album, entitled 21st Century Breakdown, on Friday, May 15th, 2009.It is the band's first studio album since "American Idiot", which was released back in 2004. Songs include the already featured on T.V. hit single "Know Your Enemy"and other tracks like "East Jesus Nowhere", "Before The Lobotomy", and "Restless Heart Syndrome." In a recent feature, Rolling Stone called the album "even more ambitious than American Idiot" and "a record of die-hard punk ideals…tightly scripted, continually ascending classic-rock excitement. The Album has been worked on non-stop since 2006. The first single from 21st Century Breakdown is "Know Your Enemy," which will impact radio and be available for purchase from all online retailers this April.
International rock-sensation U2just had a street renamed in their honor, to celebrate the completion of their brand new album. The event ceremony was held March 3rd on 53rd street in Manhattan. The Street was temporarily renamed "U2 Way" for a week by mayor Michael Bloomberg who is a big fan of the band himself. Although it isn't the first time that a band had a street renamed after them, not many bands hold the title of such an honor. The beatles had "Penny Lane", Elvis lived on the end of "lonely Street", and the crowd finally decided to throw in U2, which deserved the title just as much. The band’s 12th studio album "No Line On The Horizon" is due 2009, and it is their first release in four years.
The Beastie Boys are back! The immortal rapper/rockers are hard at working finishing up their eighth studio album . Front-man Adam Yauch(aka MCA) tells Rollingstone magazine,"It's a pretty weird record," promising that it will feature a lot of a combination of rhyming, sampling, and playing."We still have a good time working together. It's fun to be able to reinvent yourself every time," he said. Beyond that, details are scarce, but Yauch hints that the venerable trio has been experimenting with new sounds(no surprise here). Rumors suggest titles for the new album includes "Tad Lock's Glasses", a reference to a former tour bus driver's distinctive eye wear. For all the Beastie Boys lovers out there, the album is due out in either the summer or fall. And now check out one of my favorite videos from the boys, Sabotaaage!!!
Its been a while without them, but finally, Grammy Award-wining progressive rock/metal band "Tool" is ever closer to releasing their newest album, hopefully due 2009! As exciting as this is for all Tool lovers, I still find Tool as one of the strangest bands out there. I just can't find a clear explanation to why I enjoy them, but I somehow always have ever since I started listening to them a couple of years back. Maybe its their music, their unclear lyrics, their battering guitar riffs and bipolar vocals, maybe their freaky iconic and interpretive art videos that, some, look like the epic scenes from the "Halo" video-game, at least in my opinion. One thing's clear though, whatever they've been doing all these years, its been working. Of all bands, I've learned over the years that they have the most odd manner of arranging some of their songs. One thing that caught my attention about them was when in one of their most famed songs, "Laterus", they arranged The number of syllables per line in the lyrics to an arrangement of the Fibonacci numbers. I was also interested when I read that the band puts an emphasis on the sound of their songs and tends to reduce the effect the lyrics can have on the perception of songs by not releasing song lyrics with any album. They are also known for using a lot of taboo-breaking imagery in their music for hellfire moralizing. The band has been on a break from touring following nearly two years of supporting their most recent studio album, 2006's "10,000 Days". They have been writing and working on new material for their newest album since early 2008, although it is still unclear when its going to release, even though Tool guitarist Adam Jones says the album is close to being complete and might even be released this year. Tool might be working on new material right now, but they still retain their same efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution and the depiction of controversies surrounding society today. Tool received their second Grammy Award for the best metal performance of 2001 for this song named "Schism". Like in most of their videos, in this one they use a lot of visual abstract arts and themes to convey a message. You might find the video odd if you're watching it for the first time, but always remember its just art and how you interpret it. Besides, its a really good song. Advance 30 seconds into the video since it takes a while for the song to start.I want to hear your comments, Enjoy! Tool - Schism
After releasing International hit singles like "Mr.Brightside","When you were Young" and one of the themesongs for the 2008 Olympics, "AllThese Things That I've Done", The Killers are back with a fresh new album entitled "Day and Age". Like their previous albums, The Killers were very ambitious on the project and , and this fourth album extends their scope to mega stardom. Like their homewtown of Las Vegas, they have a flair for anything supersize and over the top, arena- rock styled anthems. This was shown in one of the key tracks for the album, the song dubbed "Human" , which was filmed in the in the extensive, neverending plains of the nevada desert with the band soaring high and giving you that kind of Bohemian Rhapsody- styled choirs and that epic feel when you hear the lyrics. It debuted thirteen on the BILLBOARD modern rock chart and has peaked to number six ever since. It's also had wide success on international charts, most notably reaching number three on the UK singles chart. Many Critics have praised the Album for "stretching the soundscape of alternative rock, which has increasingly become difficult to differentiate between mainstream rock. The Killers also incorporate a gentle side of 80's new wave which contributes to their classic and well distinguished sound. As soon as the opening riff starts playing, you'll know its the killers. Other Key tracks include "Spaceman", "A Dustland Fairytale" and "I Can't Stay" The Killers brand new video from their new album Day & Age
Where have they been all these years? It just seemed like they were about to fade away only for the older generation to remember when legendary bands like Metallica, G'n'R, and AC/DC decided to make a stunning comeback with outstanding fresh new hits, worldwide tours, and record sales!
It seemed as if the rise of democracy in China was more realistic than the release of the album, but after 14 years of delays, Guns'n'Roses 's long awaited Album "Chinese Democracy" had finaly been released last month after singer Axl Rose settled many financial disputes entangled within the album itself. Die-Hard G'n'R fans across the globe rejoiced. It could have been a lot worse, but many argue that the timing of the release was right. Just in its first two weeks, the first single, "Chinese democracy" hit number nine in hard rock radio. It looks like its gonna sell for a long time.
Other new albums like AC/DC's "Black Ice" sold more than 1 million copies in two weeks, and Metallica's "Death Magnetic" has moved more than 1.25 million copies since it came out 2 months ago. Hopefully, more bands decide to follow with already expected upcoming albums from U2, Tool, and Franz Ferdinand!
